6. GUILTY AND GUILTIER

Ira Ranawat

I wouldn’t lie and say I’m not surprised. I knew about his past, I knew the flings he had, I’ve even met some of them, saw them in passing, I knew he’s no virgin, but I believed he was strictly a ‘no strings attached’ kind of man. To find out that he was in a relationship once, albeit a brief one, and it ended with him dumping her so heartlessly, came as a betrayal to me. But if compared to the past I’m hiding, who’s guiltier? Him or I? How should I react to his confession? Act upset, act true to what I’m feeling, or should I be the bigger person and tell him I understand him, even though I don’t? Should I forgive him, in hopes, that this generosity of mine will be counted when my truth comes out into light? Or should I turn into a hypocrite and expose the hurt I’m feeling, how betrayed I feel right now?
